Very Tricky. Instructions to remove infected files and trojans using that method could crash the works if not done in the order that is suggested, I had a bug so bad I thought I would have to go that route. Fortunitly Malewarebytes Anti Malware isolated the files and as long as they remain dormant, I should be alright, as long as I periodically scan and preform the recomended actions.

I agree.

Malwarebytes

SpyBot Search and Destroy

are 2 of the best softwares you can use in a case like this.

If they don't find it, then system restore. If that doesn't do it then backup known good files and do a fresh install.

Also - the malware programs are only as good as their definition files. So update often to keep up on the latest threats.

I use Spybot Search and Destroy. I find that I need nothing else.

Been doing this for years.

Sometimes there are services that don't wanna let go, but it's easy to bump them.

Don't forget to update your definitions from Spybot.

Install spybot- search and destroy...

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

It will find stuff that norton and others won't. It will stop them from installing again. Tried all the rest..

Good advice.

RBNW, if you know any of the filenames of the infection definitely do a search to find any info.

In my case it was not a serious infection, I caught it early so the sys restore was a good option.

Good luck
